川越「うつくし」スポット Kawagoe "Beautiful" Spot

情緒あふれる蔵造りの町並みにひときわ高くそびえる川越のシンボル「時の鐘」。高さ16.2m、木造三層構造の鐘楼です。現在の鐘楼は江戸時代の1627年に建てられた初代から数えて4代目で、明治の大火の翌年に完成しました。毎日4回（6時、12時、15時、18時）、自動で鐘を鳴らします。
環境省の「残したい日本の音風景100選」にも選ばれている鐘の音。川越を訪れた際には、ぜひ聞いてみてください。 The "Toki no Kane" is a symbol of Kawagoe, towering above the atmospheric streetscape of storehouses. It is a 16.2m-tall, three-story wooden bell tower. The current bell tower is the fourth since the first was built in 1627 during the Edo period, and was completed the year after the Great Fire of the Meiji Period. It automatically chimes four times a day (at 6:00, 12:00, 15:00, and 18:00).
The sound of the bells has been selected as one of the "100 Soundscapes of Japan We Want to Preserve" by the Ministry of the Environment. If you visit Kawagoe, be sure to give it a listen.
