~Sensoji Temple Five-Story Pagodai~

浅草寺五重塔は1886年（明治19年）に改修工事を行いました。その際、改修費用の工面の為に、工事の足場に登って眺望をたのしむことを企画しました。
当時の様子を描いた浮世絵（歌川国政（四代）・竹内栄久/画、「東京府金龍山浅草寺五重塔修復之図」） からは、その盛況ぶりがうかがえます。
同様の企画は、谷中の天王寺や京都の東寺、奈良の興福寺など様々な寺院で行われていました。 The five-story pagoda of Sensoji Temple underwent repairs in 1886 (Meiji 19). At that time, in order to raise funds for the repairs, a plan was made for people to climb the scaffolding and enjoy the view.

Similar plans were held at various temples, including Tennoji Temple in Yanaka, Toji Temple in Kyoto, and Kofuku-ji Temple in Nara.
