富士山縦覧場 跡地（浅草六区） Former site of Mount Fuji Observation Area（Asakusa 6th Ward）

富士山縦覧場（ふじさんじゅうらんじょう）とは、1887年、現在の浅草公園六区にあった富士山を模した木造建築物です。
富士山縦覧場は、浅草公園六区の娯楽施設の一部として設けられ、多くの観光客や地元の人々が訪れ、富士山を疑似的に上る体験ができたり、富士山の風景を眺めることができました。当時の人々にとっては、富士山を身近に感じられる貴重な体験場所だったそうです。 The Mt. Fuji Viewing Area was a wooden building modeled after Mt. Fuji that was built in 1887 in what is now Asakusa Park Roku-ku.
The Mt. Fuji Viewing Area was established as part of the entertainment facilities in Asakusa Park Roku-ku, and many tourists and locals visited it, where they could virtually experience climbing Mt. Fuji and view the scenery of Mt. Fuji. For people at the time, it was a valuable experience that made Mt. Fuji feel closer to them.

富士山縦覧場の着想の原点として、江戸時代に富士山信仰（富士講）が広まり、江戸の各地に富士山を模した「富士塚」が築かれ、身近な場所で富士登山を疑似体験できる場所として人気を博していたことが挙げられます。 The idea for the Mt. Fuji Viewing Area originated from the spread of Mt. Fuji worship (Fuji-ko) in the Edo period, when "Fujizuka" (fuji mounds) modeled after Mt. Fuji were built all over Edo, and they became popular as places where people could virtually experience climbing Mt. Fuji in familiar locations.

現在、当時の富士山縦覧場の建物や施設は残っていませんが、歴史的な魅力と現代的な観光施設が共存するエリアとなっています。昔の劇場の名残や映画館の跡地など、歴史を感じさせる場所が点在しています。また、浅草演芸ホールでは、今でも落語や漫才などの伝統的な大衆芸能を楽しむことができます。
